Played the demo for Braid. Can’t see myself playing the rest. If you’re gonna be obtuse and misleading about the basic information I need to do anything, I don’t have the time. I’m fine with puzzle games needing me to figure stuff out for myself, but don’t actively try to give me the wrong understanding about what’s going on.
I didn’t like it because of this too. But also because for a puzzle platformer, the platforming was some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. If mario got jumping just right, Braid gets it completely wrong.
Made the whole game unsatisfying to play. The painted art style is nice though.
What killed it for me was the utterly ridiculous pacing, both narrative-wise and mechanic-wise. Thirty minutes into the game and I still felt as if I made no progress in any way, and the game was still trying to bullshit me into making itself longer by making its newly introduced mechanics even more obscure than the last ones.
