Thanks for all the replies. It means a lot to me.
I wish I could offer advice, but I only have sympathy. I feel the same way, very very often.
I appreciate the feelings, it means a lot to know I can find support here. Here’s to us shaking that feeling away and doing productive and fun stuff!
The Pokémon project. You should give it a try.
Maybe I should give that project a try. But I guess not right now (as in, RIGHT NOW). I don’t feel confident enough on my skills to the point of becoming part of something so large. Maybe if I rush and release my game already I will feel better prepared. Maybe all I need right now is to know I can finish something.
And no, I’m not going to set another deadline. I’ve done that some 4 or 5 times now, and as you can see I’m not good at sticking to them.
How much time do you have outside of work? How much dev do you do in your free time? Any team projects? 140 chars isn’t much to type with :(
That varies a lot. There are times I don’t even have enough time to sleep for 5 hours a day, given that classes, work, eating and moving around takes up all my free time. Right now I am on vacations from classes, which means I work full time at the copany until the classes start again, and so I do have some free time. But that doesn’t really mean I am going to be productive with that time.
I seriously lack time management skills.
I think the safe route is to keep your job, make your serious game in your spare time and polish it to a shine. Release and see what happens.
Yes, that has been my plan all along. Although I did forsee I would have to release a bunch of free games and do a lot of PR before even seeing anything at all happen.
All in all, thanks for the support, people. I’m not gonna give up, I just had to shake off that feeling that had been annoying me lately. Hopefully, now I’ll feel more motivated to stay on business and do some interesting stuff.
