Article: Killing Pirates
I like how the writer made available the (rather simple and expressive) decision tree featured below, and how it was used to make the point that while focus is currently on its 6th stage, it should actually be in the 4th.
1. HERE IS A THING I LIKE
2. DO I WANT IT? (YES)
3. DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT? (NO)
4. DO I WANT TO PAY FOR IT? (YES/NO)
5. YES: PAY FOR IT
6. NO: JUST TAKE IT FOR FREE
END
Criminalizing your potential customers - and through DRM, punishing those who have already invested money on your project - is actually one of the things that powers piracy as it currently is. Not only can you trace parallels between the war on piracy and the war on drugs, but you can actually see that crackdown on piracy is wasted money.
Honestly, I really hope that either AAA game companies drop dead, or stop with this stupidity and start respecting its customers already.

I couldn’t agree more. If I ever charge for my games, I’ll make sure the people that paid for it owns 100% of it.
